Fair of the Year Award recognizes the dedication of the volunteers, the leadership of the management, the overall excellence of the presentation, the promotion of the event, the diversity of the attractions, the event’s ability to provide educational exhibits in a fun environment for all ages and to expose to the general public the agricultural contribution that is in the immediate vicinity.
Dave McKelvey, General Manager of Canada's Conklin Supershows presented the Super Fair of the Year Award for 2008 to the Almonte Fair, at our Annual Awards Dinner during the Ontario Fairs Convention. Attached is his presentation speech.

Good evening …. On behalf of Canada's Conklin Supershows, it is my honour to present, “THE SUPER FAIR AWARD” for the year 2008.
A few years ago after losing their midway due to TSSA intervention, a Fairboard bravely moved their Fair date to accommodate our schedule. Since then, our Supershows Midway has been playing their annual Fair with great success.
Led by an enthusiastic and determined secretary, they promoted a record-breaking Advance Sale in that first year. Each year thereafter, this Fairboard’s dedication has proven them successful.
We would like to thank and acknowledge the hard work and foresight of the members of this Fairboard, especially the “Super” lady we worked so closely together with, Audrey Kostaszek.
I call upon Adam Cochran, President of the ALMONTE FAIR to come up and receive the “Super Fair of the Year” Award for 2008.
